The Hampden Meadows Volunteer Fire Company started back in 1920 in Beaver's garage on New Meadow Road with a truck the members built on a Cadillac frame.

     

Today, Station 4 and its land on Sowams Road is owned by the HMVFC, Inc. while the town provides the vehicle, engine 4, and all fire fighting equipment. Engine 4 responds to all fires within Hampden meadows along with any working fire within the town of Barrington under the direction of the Barrington Fire Chief.

The Hampden Meadows Volunteer Fire Company is located at 168 Sowams Road in Barrington Rhode Island. Also referred to as Station 4, HMVFC operates with one engine company (engine 4) and approximately 19 active firefighters. Our primary engine, engine 4, is a 1994 Pierce Pumper equipped to protect the town of Barrington and surrounding communities.

The Hampden Meados Volunteer Fire Company is now accepting applications from those interested in becoming volunteer fire fighters. Why volunteer?

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, in good health, and capable of meeting the training and attendance requirements. No experience is necessary, all equipment and training will be provided.

If interested please stop by our station located at 168 Sowams road on any Wednesday training night around 7:00 pm for a tour and application... or download the application online, fill it out, and bring it to our station for review.

June 30, 2009 - Member of HMVFC would like to express their deepest condolences to the family and coworkers of Kingston Fire Assistant Chief Allan "Pickles" LePage, who passed away this afternoon due to injuries sustained on the job.

May 4, 2009 - Members of HMVFC and the Barrington Fire Department attended a live burn training at the Union Fire Distict in South Kingstown.

We would like to pass on our sincere appreciation to all the instructors for their time! It's a great facility, and everyone left a better firefighter because of this training.

HMVFC would also like to commend Lt. Owens of the Barrington Fire Dept. for his perserverance in making this happen with solid objectives in mind and a plan.
